So… because I don’t have enough things on the go at any one time, I’ve decided to resurrect an old tradition. Flash fiction challenges!

Every week I’ll post a prompt. It’s up to you to respond to the prompt in whatever way you see fit – any genre, any style. The only real requirement is that you come in under 1000 words. I would ask that you steer clear of hardcore erotica and torture and things like that (you are welcome to write it if that’s your thing, but I won’t be linking to anything that I find too extreme and I’d like to be able to link to everyone’s posts).

Post your flash fiction on your own blog or whatever public facing thing you like and put a link in the comments below so we can read each other’s stuff. Fun!

**note: I won’t be judging stories or doing any of that competitive stuff. I don’t think art should be competitive. I might feature or review the odd story, though, and anyone who likes is welcome to solicit feedback from the other participants.

At any rate, here is the inaugural prompt:

A character is transformed into a mythical creature and must find a way to change back.

There’s no deadline on this – post a link to your story whenever you’ve finished writing. I’d like to keep this thing evergreen so that people can join whenever they discover it and write to whatever prompts inspire them. That being said, if you can get something in within 167 hours or so (1 week less an hour), that lets me mention your story in the next prompt post and that would be great.

Off you go. Get writing!

Before you go!
